London/Kiev, August 21st, 2003: Intec Telecom Systems, a global provider of Operations Support Systems (OSS) for the telecommunications industry, today announced it has signed an InterconnecT™ agreement with Ukrainian Mobile Communications (UMC), the largest mobile operator in Ukraine. InterconnecT, the world leader in domestic and international intercarrier billing, will be deployed to enable UMC to accurately charge other carriers for using its network facilities. The solution will also provide superior scalability to deal with UMC’s growing volume of calls, while minimising operational overhead in settling with other carriers.

Commenting on the deal Kevin Adams, Intec’s CEO said: “We are pleased to have gained a new customer in Ukraine, one of the fastest growing mobile markets in the world. This new agreement will help to integrate the billing operations of UMC, while generating new market opportunities for one of Intec’s core products, especially in the fast-growing Eastern Europe market.”

UMC is the leading mobile communications operator in the Ukraine, with 47% market share. UMC boasts the widest coverage throughout the country, offering the greatest choice of services and innovation. In 2002 the number of UMC customers rose by about 60 percent. The company currently has 2.2 million clients in a country of 48 million people.

“InterconnecT is a one-stop billing solution that will help increase UMC’s revenue potential and help manage its customer base,” said Adams. “Its proven flexibility and performance has many advantages over its interconnect billing competitors, ensuring that the system can be tailored quickly and efficiently to deal with anticipated growth in call traffic.”
