London/Kuala Lumpur, October 2, 2003 – Intec Telecom Systems announced today that Telekom Malaysia, the country’s leading telecommunications pioneer, has implemented Intec’s Digiquant platform as the billing and settlement solution for its global Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) clearinghouse.

Serving as a tool for the management and growth of Telekom Malaysia’s VoIP business, this solution allows the customisation of rate plans for both retail and wholesale business models, giving Telekom Malaysia the impetus to better serve its business partners and customers.

“The cooperation of our network vendors, Mediaring.com and Cisco Systems, with Intec’s Digiquant platform allows Telekom Malaysia to enjoy the highest level of interoperable functionality and thus greatly increase flexibility and time to market for future services. The combined solution delivers the high performance and functional depth Telekom Malaysia requires to address its full market potential,” said Dr.Razali Harun, General Manager, Global Business, Telekom Malaysia.

With Intec’s latest acquisition of Digiquant, Telekom Malaysia, which already applies Intec’s products for other services, is now leveraging a broader spectrum of solutions and services provided by the world’s leading Operating Support System vendor. This solution, which was chosen by Telekom Malaysia earlier this year, has now been subsequently tested and fully implemented.

Achieving competitive advantage with the implementation of a VoIP clearing house, Telekom Malaysia is offering international connectivity to local, regional, and international VoIP services. The issuance of 14 application service provider (ASP) individual licenses under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 in 2001, has escalated competition in the provisioning of VoIP services in the country, spurring lower international calling rates and increasing consumer choices.

Martin Kent Nielsen, general manager of Intec’s Digiquant business in Asia said, “The selection and implementation of Digiquant by a carrier of the calibre of Telekom Malaysia is further proof that Intec’s Digiquant Platform is the preferred billing platform for carrier grade VoIP services enabling Telekom Malaysia to deliver exceptional value to its customers and stakeholders.”

John Rocca, Intec’s Managing Director for Asia-Pacific added, “Telekom Malaysia is a valuable and important customer for us in this region and a capable and well-established user of Intec’s InterconnecT product for switched voice billing. Expanding its offerings using the capabilities of the Digiquant solution is a logical step that will enable the carrier to develop further strong revenue streams from its business in the region”.
