  • Partnership provides InterconnecT and InterconnecT PREP to Austria’s leading mobile operator

London/Vienna, December 5th, 2002: Intec Telecom Systems and Hewlett-Packard have jointly sold Intec’s InterconnecT™ and InterconnecT PREP™ solutions to Mobilkom Austria, the leading mobile operator in Austria. Intec’s solutions will enable Mobilkom Austria to put in place the advanced billing capabilities required by existing and next generation communications services. Mobilkom Austria will use InterconnecT to conduct carrier-to-carrier billing with its growing number of interconnect partners. InterconnecT PREP’s mediation technology will collect and process information on the millions of calls that pass through the company’s network every day, as well as providing capabilities for number portability and duplicate call record detection.

Mobilkom Austria claims to be the first company in Europe to deploy a GPRS and UMTS network and the first to initiate 3G services across Austria with a live streaming video call between the cities of Vienna and Graz. Approximately 25 per cent of Austria’s geographic area, including most major urban districts, is covered in the initial 3G launch. Content will initially be provided through a number of exclusive partnerships between Mobilkom Austria and companies such as news agency Reuters and leading Austrian on-line sports media channel, sport1.at. The operator plans to launch commercial services across the country in 2003.

“We are very pleased to work closely with HP to offer our OSS technology to Mobilkom Austria, one of the most technologically advanced operators in Europe,” said Kevin Adams, Intec’s CEO. “As the world’s market leader in intercarrier billing, InterconnecT is a logical solution for any operator looking for OSS software that has the proven ability to deal with the volume and complexity of present and next generation services. Together with HP we will ensure that Mobilkom receives the support it requires to successfully implement this advanced solution.”
