ATLANTA (May 16, 2001) - Intec Telecom Systems, an operations support systems (OSS) provider for telecom companies, will provide the central mediation capability in a demonstration of Internet Protocol billing standards sponsored by the Internet Protocol Detail Record Organization (IPDR.org) at SuperComm 2001 June 5 -7 in Atlanta. Intec is the market leader worldwide for convergent mediation, with clients such as ITXC, Cbeyond Communications and HanseNet using its Inter-mediatE™ technology.

The IPDR.org Interoperability Pavilion, located at booth 8682, provides a showcase for the IPDR.org member companies to demonstrate how their systems work together using the IPDR standard to deliver a robust, Carrier Grade, Next Generation BSS/OSS solution. Participants include equipment, mediation, OSS and BSS vendors. Intec’s Inter-mediatE™ solution will provide convergent mediation for voice over IP (VoIP), Video on Demand (VoD) and wireless Internet applications (WAP) according to the IPDR.org Network Data Management-Usage specification Version 2.5 (NDM-U 2.5).

“NDM-U 2.5 is arguably the most significant development in the billing industry this year,” said Intec’s Mediation Business President, Jim Meginley. “It is a milestone in setting standards for IP billing for next generation networks, and lays the foundation for a much richer broadband environment, with advanced services like VoD provided, and billed, to businesses and consumers.”

At Intec’s viewing station in the Pavilion, visitors can participate in VoIP, VoD, and WAP demonstrations. Specifically, visitors can place a phone call using VoIP phones, watch this summer’s blockbuster movie trailers using VoD, or play a game using WAP.

At each of these demonstrations, participants will be producing a log file, which Inter-mediatE™ collects and mediates into IPDRs. Inter-mediatE™ then delivers the NDM-U compliant IPDRs to a central file server where billing companies retrieve the information to produce a final customer invoice. Intec will also be demonstrating Inter-mediatE™’s ability to generate IPDR’s in real time.

“Inter-mediatE™ adheres to IPDR.org standards so that customers can add new services without investing time and money to customize and upgrade their mediation system,” adds Jim Meginley. “The emerging IPDR.org standards are critical to improving services and ensuring ROI and customer satisfaction for telecom carriers. Intec is pleased to have the opportunity to participate in the Pavilion and to collaborate with other IPDR.org members.”

Intec will also participate in the Interoperability Pavilion at Billing World 2001 June 26-28 in Orlando, Fla. Recently, Intec hosted a practice run for Pavilion participants at its Mediation Center of Excellence in Atlanta.
