December 12th, 2001 Mexico/London: Avantel, one of Mexico's leading domestic long distance operators, is on schedule to go live with Intec's InterconnecT solution in January 2002. Intec Telecom Systems, a global provider of Operation Support Systems (OSS) for telecom companies, sold its InterconnecTTM billing software to Avantel earlier in 2001. Avantel cited the proven performance of InterconnecT as the primary reason for its selection. Other important considerations included InterconnecT's low implementation cost and user flexibility in supporting future services and market requirements.

"Intec's billing solutions have a global reputation for performance and reliability in major operators, and this was key to our success in winning Avantel," says Victor Salazar, Intec's Director of Sales for Mexico, Central America and Caribbean. "InterconnecT is a proven product which will maximize Avantel's revenue stream from the first day of operations in 2002."

Avantel has grown from a leading domestic long distance company into an Internet and local telephone service provider for corporate and residential customers. InterconnecT will play a vital role in calculating interconnection revenues and producing accurate billing information. In addition to these capabilities, InterconnecT will also provide support for other complex billing areas including number portability and least cost routing.

"InterconnecT is a sophisticated, low-risk solution that will help Avantel deal with the growing demands of intercarrier billing across all network types ", said
Kevin Adams, Intec's CEO. "Intec's growing presence in the Caribbean and Latin American region will also ensure that Avantel gains our experience in technical implementation and service support."
