Intec Telecom Systems selected by Lattelekom, Latvia’s largest telecom
operator and national PTT, in million dollar plus contract
- Contract win underlines Intec’s continuing expansion into Eastern Europe
October 4, 2001 - Intec Telecom Systems plc (LSE: ITL), a major provider of telecoms Operations Support Systems (“OSS”), has signed an agreement with
Lattelekom, Latvia’s largest telecommunications operator and the Latvian PTT, for its InterconnecT™ billing system. InterconnecT, the market leader in
inter-carrier billing and settlement systems, will secure significant market share retention for Lattelekom as it prepares for deregulation of the Latvian telecoms
industry at the beginning of 2003. The agreement fuels Intec’s global business strategy as it provides another entry to Eastern Europe. Intec also has the Polish and Hungarian PTTs as customers as well as a number of mobile carriers in the region.
“InterconnecT is an integral investment for our plans to achieve a maximum level of revenue through competitive services and efficient interconnect management in the open market", says Leena Suhonen, CEO, from Lattelekom. “The successful delivery of the system will encourage cost-savings through inter-carrier billing, providing us with more revenue to invest in services and infrastructure changes.”
InterconnecT is designed to offer the flexibility and scalability to support this modernisation and the increasingly complex range of services that Lattelekom
will offer its customers to remain competitive in an open economy. With proven PTT-level performance and scalability, InterconnecT will also be able to deal
with the company’s growing call volumes.
“Latvia’s rising demand for modernisation and new telecoms services makes it one of the most attractive markets in the Baltic region. Our contract with
Lattelekom illustrates the demand that exists throughout Eastern Europe for products which maximise telecoms network revenues,” says Kevin Adams, CEO of Intec. "This PTT agreement is very important to us and we will work closely with
Lattelekom to ensure the successful deployment of InterconnecT in this new market.”
