- 1999 orders increase $18million; 200% increase in customer base in year
- Heavy investment in product development plus global infrastructure drives sales
7th January 2000: Intec Telecom Systems, the worldwide market leader in interconnect settlement and billing solutions for telecoms operators, has announced another year of exceptional sales growth, with orders for the twelve months ending September 1999, up by 100% over the comparable period in 1998, to $18million and the customer base increasing by 200%. The Company says that growing awareness in global telecoms carriers of the need to invest in a new generation of interconnect billing technology, allied to a jump in Internet and voice traffic levels, has driven worldwide demand for its solutions.
As a privately-owned business, Intec Telecom Systems does not routinely report profits or other financial details. However, the Company has produced an operating profit before tax and investment costs, but will continue its policy of re-investing any surplus in development and expansion initiatives. Significant new product and service introductions during FY99, including InterconnecT ASP, InterconnecT ITU, and a new Consultancy Division, are now paying dividends in sales revenues, with over 30 new clients signed in 1999.
“There has been a marked change in 1999 in the demand from the major carriers in new billing technology,” says Kevin Adams, Managing Director of Intec Telecom Systems. "Tighter margins from greater competition, more complex telecom products, and of course the jump in overall traffic levels have made good interconnect billing and auditing practice a critical business issue that affects profitability and competitiveness. Carriers are demanding much higher accuracy from their billing operations. Many are also seeking added-value from billing information, such as margin analysis."
During 1999 Intec Telecom Systems has invested heavily to support its continuing growth, with 60 new staff, and seven new sales and support offices in Brazil, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Malaysia, Poland and Australia, and a new Consulting Division that helps customers derive maximum benefit from their investment in InterconnecT. Overall, staff numbers have grown from 80 to 140, with continued strong growth anticipated for the immediate future.
Intec Telecom Systems’ flagship product, InterconnecT™, is used by many of the world's leading operators, including COLT, MCI-Worldcom, France Telecom, Swisscom, Telecom Argentina and Telkom South Africa. During 1999 Interconnect has been chosen by many new entrants and markets innovators such as ICO, Optus, thus, ESAT Digifone, and over 20 others.
Intec Telecom Systems has also added to its product portfolio in 1999, with the introduction of two new products, InterconnecT ASP and InterconnecT ITU. InterconnecT ASP, which has recently gone into production at the first customer site (sunrise telecommunications of Zurich), is an innovative ‘Application Service Provision’ facility, allowing new market entrants to have a fully-managed and hosted InterconnecT facility with low entry cost. Intec Telecom Systems expects to derive a strong and growing revenue stream from ASP operations, as a result of heavy investment in the necessary facilities. InterconnecT ITU brings the power of InterconnecT to the more traditional area of settlement based on ITU rules, and is now in production at the first customer sites. This is a business area with significant potential, as National PTTs seek more accuracy and efficiency from ITU-type billing and settlement. Intec Telecom Systems also provides a full range of Professional Services including Education, Business Process and Technical Consultancy, both directly and through partners and distributors.
