  • Intec Telecom Systems joins Sun Microsystems, Oracle, Baan and Lucent as MSC winners

2nd February 2000, Woking, England: Intec Telecom Systems, the world leader in inter-carrier telecom billing solutions, has been awarded Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) status by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC), a body set up by the Malaysian government. The award recognises leading-edge companies able to accelerate Malaysia’s entry into the “information age.” MSC status has already been awarded to Sun Microsystems, Oracle, Baan and Lucent amongst other leading technology companies with operations in Malaysia. Intec Telecom Systems will bring its advanced billing technology to the fast-expanding Malaysian telecoms market, allowing carriers to bill each other for the complex, high-volume voice and data traffic services generated by its growing ‘Internet economy.’

Intec Telecom Systems had to provide a five-year business plan to the MDC to be considered for MSC status. The MDC evaluates applications according to a number of criteria including the development of local staff, technical innovation, business planning and potential contribution to the development of Malaysia. The creation of the Multimedia Super Corridor is phase one in Malaysia’s strategic plan towards achieving “Vision 2020” a national agenda that sets out specific goals and objectives for long-term development.
