Nokia Telecommunications, the infrastructure arm of the Finland-based Nokia Corporation, has selected UK-based Intec Telecom Systems as its partner for interconnect billing and settlement software. Intec’s market-leading InterconnecT product will be offered to Nokia customers as part of system solutions, integrating it at client sites with Nokia’s technology through the Nokia OMD mediation platform.
Interconnect billing and settlement systems, which allows carriers to charge each other for carrying their traffic, is a growing area of information technology in the telecoms sector, as new and existing operators expand the number and complexity of their services. Technical developments such as Number Portability and Least Cost Routing, new products like Internet Access and Mobile Roaming, and the need to ensure Year 2000 and Euro compliance are fuelling demand for a new generation of interconnect technology. “Including InterconnecT in our partner product portfolio completes our offering in this billing area, which has become more and more significant for many of our customers,” says Partner Manager, Heikki Tulenheimo from Nokia Telecommunications.
“The market demand for our interconnect solutions from major carriers is much more easily met if we have the support of Partners with both worldwide capabilities and strong market and technical knowledge,” adds Gary Gibbs, Intec Telecom Systems’ Partner Manager.
