Intec Telecom Systems expands to meet 100% global growth prediction for interconnect solutions

  • National and international carriers seeking new interconnect systems to meet ever increasing traffic volumes, demanding new product requirements, and Y2K/Euro compatibility

Interconnect software market leader Intec Telecom Systems has hired Ian Gordon as its Sales Director, with a brief to manage the company’s fast expanding InterconnecT global sales team. Intec, which recently announced a highly successful first year of trading, is predicting growth of 100% for 1999, driven by strong demands in deregulating telecom markets around the globe for more functionally-rich, proven interconnect systems.

Ian Gordon, who brings over 20 years of experience in software sales and marketing management expertise to Intec, says that technical and financial pressures mean both national and international telecommunications carriers are increasingly focused on the business and operational benefits of good interconnect practice.

“The interest we have from both new entrants and existing operators tells us that interconnect isn’t a backroom issue any longer. Revenue streams from interconnect are one of the strongest growth areas for many carriers. With margins under pressure and traffic rising, new levels of billing and auditing accuracy in both tariffs and volume are required. We have new clients achieving better than 99% accuracy in interconnect settlement, with an order of magnitude improvement a future goal. That’s a serious challenge for any interconnect software vendor or carrier, and Intec’s ability to deliver that performance is the basis of our current growth.”

During 1998 Intec expanded its sales force significantly to meet market demand, and plans to continue this expansion in 1999. Intec has offices in all major markets and a world-wide customer base that has tripled in size in just 12 months. It also has partnership agreements with companies like Hewlett-Packard, Compaq, Andersen Consulting, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Cap Gemini that have allowed Intec to bring new InterconnecT installations into production at customers such as Retevision (Spain), Infostrada (Italy) and SIRIS (France) in very short timescales, typically less than three months.

The company has also introduced a new version, V6, of its market-leading InterconnecT product line, offering substantially enhanced functionality, performance, flexibility and security. V6 is now in production at a number of sites. 1999 will see another major new additions to the InterconnecT functionality, fulfilling Intec’s product roadmap with highly-requested features like ITU settlements.
